STAGE

Zach Rand began performing in local New York theatre when he was seven years old. Following his big sister Liv onto the stage, Zach discovered a love of performing he never knew would surpass his love of soccer. Zach performed in fourteen local productions before making his way to Broadway shortly after he turned nine years old. His first professional role was as “Gavroche” in the First Broadway Revival of Les Miserables, immediately followed by playing “Michael Banks” in Disney’s Mary Poppins on Broadway. With Zach’s passion for the stage fully sparked, from Broadway to National Tours, World Premieres, Workshops and Readings, he has been a proud member of the Broadway community and of Actor’s Equity and American Guild of Variety Artists for more than half of his life.

FILM

After three years on the Broadway stage and touring, Zach decided he’d like to try a new art form and transitioned to film. In his first role, Zach was cast as “Brian Cleek”, a disturbed boy from a highly dysfunctional family, in the feature film Lucky McKee’s The Woman. His performances in  Brian Keene’s Ghoul, Christina Yoon’s White Rabbit and Days of Thunder and Rain, furthered his work as a downtrodden teen. The comedic film short Le Refuge by Elliot Tompson gave Zach is first shot at comedy while the most recent “Aware I’m Rare” offered the opportunity to develop a quirky comedic character while honoring the philanthropic work he does for the pulmonary hypertension community.

TELEVISION

In 2012, Zach joined the cast of the NBC series Do No Harm starring Steven Pasquale as “Ray Jordan”, the son of Dr. Jordan played by Michael Esper. Zach’s turn as a blind child prodigy was instrumental to the “Six Feet Deep” episode’s plot line as his father, sympathetic to her plight, attempted to convince a pregnant mother to have in-utero surgery on her unborn child to prevent birth defects.

Next, Zach landed a recurring role on Showtime’s Emmy Award Winning series Nurse Jackie starring Edie Falco. As “Tommy Verelli” Zach was playfully portraying both Jackie's boyfriend's son and her daughter's boyfriend.

PHILANTHROPY

Nine months after the death of his sister Chloë, Zach’s career launched. He is a founding member of Broadway Kids Care (BKC), a philanthropic organization where the Broadway kids and their siblings work together performing community service. Through this organization, he has worked with UNICEF to provide vaccines for children in need, the Actor’s Home, Broadway Barks, Broadway Cares, and with the shelters for battered women and children in NYC.  He can be seen on CBS television’s The Early Show’s Extraordinary People featuring his work with BKC. Zach can be heard on the 2008 and 2009 Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids (BCEFA) Carols for Cures CD and participated in both the Easter Bonnet and Gypsy of the Year, the bi-annual productions that are the culmination of weeks of fundraising for BCEFA.
